It’s not so bad, dear world. We have some stubborn and decisive enemies that are threatening you as well.

I am considering myself as a Humanist. I believe that many of Israel’s decisions are wrong. The settlements are wrong, the human rights issues in the west bank are wrong; the fact that we haven’t signed a peace agreement with Syria yet is wrong; but I saw, with my own eyes, how militants use women and children to transfer explosives into Israel because of the “IDF spirit”. I saw in my own eyes armed militants hiding in ambulance delivering a woman in labor to an Israeli hospital. I am sorry; I KNOW who is responsible for the deaths of these children. When I served in the Janine area I caught once a 13 years old child that stashed two hand grenades and a fully loaded AK47 in a field near a small Israeli settlement. He cried for hours as we investigated him, not because we harmed him or something, but because he knew that his family was doomed for his failure to execute a suicidal attack as he was ordered to. He told me that he was recruited at the local Islamic school due to his bright skin and “Jewish” look, and he was trained to die as a mortar. My hart broke when I saw this kid sent back to a place when the basic instinct of living is considered as cowardliness, and murder and killing of innocent civilians are values of heroism.

But Hammas is not a little child. and while, in the overall picture, Israel can continue to exist after the missiles attack, the families of the people who get hurt can’t. the Hammas missiles took lives, took properties, took crops, took people’s hard work and destroyed it. it’s not a little kick you can just ignore, it’s not a little pain that will go away in a few minutes. it’s lives. it’s the right to live your life in a safe place, without stress and without worrying for your life at any given moment.

Hammas is nol a child, and it souldn’t be treated as one. Hammas is a terrorist group which attacks a country, and as such must be held account for it’s actions. for many years Israel tried to work it’s way to peace under rocket fire in hope that the other side wants the same thing. it doesn’t. Hammas’s goal is to destroy Israel and kill everyone or chase them away. no country can deal with such an organization nor should it. any country has a right to defend it’s citizens without being crticized for that.

Hammas is not a child! remember that.

It’s about 21:20, I’m on my work-bus on my way home from work after another shift. Suddenly we hear a “red color” alarm. What do we do??? Now??? Couldn’t the Hammas wait anothe 5 minutes?
The driver stops close to a mall which was the nearest building. Everything is abandoned except another girl who is also running to the mall. I am running and running and thinking there is no way I’ll get to that mall in 45 seconds. I hear a whistle. I turn back and there I see it – a big yellow light. I pick up the speed, the light passes over my head, 3 seconds later I hear a large BOOM! before I make it to the mall.
I got into the mall, trembling, hyperventilating… dear god, it went right over me. The telephone lines are down, and I know my family is trying to reach me. Later I find out that there is a dead woman and a wounded women from that missile just a few meters fro my position. no way…

I got home crying. Crying, trembling, scared, dizzy. The only way to describe my situation is a total helplessness. I was in an unshielded area, so far from the mall, praying that the missile won’t fall on me. When we are at home or at work and we are close to a shielded room it feels differently then out there.

War in Ashdod. War at home.

One might argue that the Gaza people feel the same, but keep in mind the citizens of Sderot felt like this for the past 7 years. even when there was supposed to be a cease fire…

I won’t depress you with the entire two days of searching google and other places for solutions. but I will tell you I was lucky to have problem number 1, otherwise I would never have solved problem number 2.

The solution:
The solution is to go to the wp-config.php file and delete the line (I think it’s line 7) that contains the phrase:

define(‘DB_CHARSET’, ‘utf8′);

It worked for me and solved both of the problems together. I hope this helps other people who encounter the same problem.

p.s.
it seems that deleting the line after performing the upgrade doesn’t help much, so try deleting it and only then go to your wp-admin/upgrade.php file. If you have already upgraded the database, try restoring it from your last backup (hopfully you made one), then delete the line and then upgrade.

How can anyone work this way?

Now there are some smokers who cry that he new law will ruin the night life in Israel. I say it will make them better. No one is telling them not to smoke. They can excuse themselves outside for 5 minutes when they feel they need a cigarette. Now the nonsmokers can enjoy the night life as well.

When there was a law that told the owners they have to separate the smoker section from the non-smokers section, most of them didn’t do it. Some of them did it but there was no real separation and the smoke reached the non-smokers as well. The police didn’t give fines and didn’t uphold the law because it became a norm. I hope the new law will be upheld.

You can see it in many countries in the world. People do not smoke while inside the pub, and after they get out, they light a cigarette. As easy as that. I don’t think Israel should be any different. Now that the law states that smoking is not allowed in public buildings, I believe we are on the right track.

Next stops – hybrid cars and non-polluting factories.

Our kiddnaped soldiers’ situation is still unknown, and it seem like, once again, we are heading towards a war.
Does anybody care?

I feel like nobody realy know how does it fell to be under constant bombings. To know that at any given moment your roof might collapse under a few tons of metal and hot laba. To be constantly aware of every little sound because it might be an alarm. To run like hell towards a shelter hoping you’ll be a little faster then the missile above you.
It’s frightening, it’s tiring, and it’s a life nobody deserves.

I never had to suffer such life, but I’ve talked to many people from Sderot and I have some clue of the way they feel. They are a nervouse rack and they just want it to be over.
Does anybody care?

I guess people in America, Europe and other places are tired of hearing about the middle east situation. I don’t read any american newspaper but if I have to guess I’d say the middle east problem is on page 8 or 9 in a small article. It’s not hot anymore. It’s yesterday’s news.
